- I am attempting to dial into work. The system at work is a HDMS call back
- system, by Microcom, 28.2 V.34, with MNP5 configured. I have a US
- Robotics Sportster 28.8 internal modem (PC) with the Sept. BIOS that
- includes 33.6 support. I have tried Procomm for windows, Terminal,
- Winsock's dialer, etc.
-
- When I dial in everything is OK (the incoming modem is only 14.4) and I
- get a whole connect message with LAPD etc etc. Everything at this point is
- OK. However, when the 28.8 modem dials back, it connects with the
- statement "CONNECT 28,800/V34/NONE", and I get garbage characters on the
- screen. No amount of changing configuration bits on my side helps - I am
- using HW flow control, &B1, &M4/&M4 (for error correction), different
- combinations of compression, etc etc etc. I have looked at all the app
- notes on configuring the modem, and nothing changes. Note that I have
- used this modem in 28.8 mode before, but without call back.
-
- Any idea what the problem is? It seems that my modem reports NONE for
- error correction (WHY) and the Microcom has error correction on, or
- something like that. Shouldn't they negotiate and reach an agreement???
- And why do they never connect with error correction, despite all the bits
- I change???
-
- Any help will be appreciated.
